Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 475-18, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 475-18, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 694
dated January 4, 2018, authorizes the abandonment of a portion of"Kaimu-Kapoho Road" for
consolidation with Isaac Kepo`okalani Hale Beach Park.
The County desires to abandon this flood-prone tract of road, determining it is no longer needed due to
the completion of the Pohoiki Bypass Road.
Council Member Eileen O'Hara questioned whether the consolidation would be included in the
existing Tax Map Key or if there will be a separate Tax Map Key assigned. Deputy Corporation
Counsel Ronald Kim responded that the request would come from the Department of Parks and
Recreation and believes it is the department's intention to consolidate the portion of the road that
is adjacent to the park, with the park. He stated that the Council's authorization is needed first to
abandon the road before moving forward with the consolidation, which has not yet been done.
Ms. O'Hara commented, because the map attached to the resolution is an older map, she wanted,
to be clear on the direction the County is going.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 475-18, and
recommends its adoption.
