STATE OF HAWAII• <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 41 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KOHANAIKI `OHANA <br /> FOR THE CULTURAL EDUCATION CENTER AT KOHANAIKI BEACH PARK. <br /> WHEREAS,the mission of Kohanaiki `Ohana, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is to <br /> remain active in the care and preservation of the cultural and natural resources at Kohanaiki <br /> Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, the goal of Kohanaiki `Ghana is to foster community engagement and <br /> support through the development and implementation of innovative stewardship programs that <br /> are specific to Kohanaiki Beach Park; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohanaiki Beach Park is managed through a three-way partnership <br /> between the County, community, and Kohanaiki Shores LLC; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kohanaiki `Ohana is requesting funds to enhance the cultural and <br /> educational opportunities at Kohanaiki Beach Park's Cultural Education Center by purchasing <br /> supplies and interpretative signs to identify the native plants, star compass, and the Ka Hale <br /> Wa'a(traditional Hawaiian A-frame structure), as well as other miscellaneous expenses related <br /> to the Cultural Education Center; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Cultural Education Center falls within the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation's Culture and Education program to promote, perpetuate, and encourage activities <br /> and programs in culture, art, history, and humanities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Kohanaiki `Ohana for the Cultural Education Center <br /> at Kohanaiki Beach Park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
