RESOLUTION NO. 496 18
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY •
DONATION OF $250 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION
WHEREAS, W. H. Shipman LTD is donating $250 to the Department of Parks
and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used for the P&R Vulcan Baseball Clinic; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that
cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal
Resolution process; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Bill Walter, W.H. Shipman LTD, 16-523 Kea'au Pahoa Road,
Kea'au, Hawaii 96749, and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Department
of Parks and Recreation, the Department of Finance and the Office of the Mayor to
acknowledge this generous donation.
