REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
DATE: February 6, 2018 Re: Comm. No. 721/Bill 101
PLACE: Council Chambers
Hilo, Hawai`i
TIME: 10:04 a.m.
Council Chair and Members
Hawai`i County Council
Hilo, Hawai`i 96720
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 101, reports as follows:
Bill No. 101, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna Sako, via Communication No. 721 dated
January 19, 2018, an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 17-40, as amended, relating to public
improvements and financing thereof for the fiscal year July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018.
This bill adds the Public Works West Hawai`i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney project
for $8.5 million to the Capital Budget. Funds for this project shall be provided from the
General Obligation Bonds, Capital Projects Fund—Fund Balance and/or Other Sources.
Council Member Karen Eoff commented that this is in support of the Prosecuting
Attorney's Office to be built and located next to the West Hawaii Civic Center so they
will be able to move in time for when the judiciary building is completed.
Director Sako confirmed that the Council approved the bond specifically for this project
but had not realized that one of the appropriations had lapsed and this is to reappropriate.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill 101, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
dmm
AYES NOES ABS EX Respectfully submitted,
CHUNG X
DAVID x COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
EOFF X
KANUHA X
LEE
LOY X 1110 /'
P
O'HARA X
POINDEXTER x MAILE DAVID, CHAIR
RICHARDS X FC REPORT NO.: 78
RUGGLES X ADOPTED: FEB 2 1 2O1 r
