A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC. FOR THE 36TH ANNUAL HAWAII
KUPUNA HULA FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and
activities to address the needs in the community; and
WHEREAS, the Elderly Activities Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation
coordinates and assists with the production of the Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival, which is a hula
competition that highlights some of the most talented and experienced dancers over the age of 55
from Hawai`i and all over the world; and
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. is working with the
Department of Parks and Recreation to coordinate the 36th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Hula
Festival, which will be held on September 12-13, 2018, at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at
Keauhou Bay; and
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. is requesting funds to
assist with the ballroom rental fee and to purchase prizes, awards, and supplies for the 36th Annual
Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc.
to suport expenses related to the 36th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
