A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC. FOR THE 36TH ANNUAL HAWAII
KUPUNA HULA FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and
activities that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc. is working in
partnership with the Department of Parks and Recreation to co-sponsor the 36th Annual Hawai`i
Kupuna Hula Festival, which will be held on September 12-13, 2018, at the Sheraton Kona
Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay; and
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival is the longest running international event
that showcases talented and experienced dancers over the age of 55 from all over the world; and
WHEREAS, to meet the increasing costs of this annual event, the Lions Club of Kona
Community Foundation Inc. is requesting funds to assist with ballroom rental, awards, prizes,
and supplies for the 36th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc.
to assist with expenses to support the 36th Annual Hawai`i Kupuna Hula Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
