Chair Poindexter and Members of the Council:
My name is Marcia Sakai, Interim Chancellor of the University of Hawai'i Hilo (UH Hilo). I
am testifying as a member of the Hawaii Island community and I support the intent of the
resolutions to help fund programs, studies and activities to prevent and eradicate rat
lungworm disease.
The resolutions will help to strengthen UH Hilo's continued commitment to support the
research efforts by our faculty in the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy to safeguard the
health of our community against rat lungworm disease.
