Transfers/Appropriates an appropriation out and from a designated fund account and credits
same to a designated fund account to provide a grant to Malam 0 Puna to assist with expenses
for research on Rat Lung Worm Disease.
Madam Chair and members of the Council,
My name is Carolyn Ma and I am the Dean of the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy,
University of Hawai'i at Hilo.Thank you for the opportunity to testify in support of the six
resolutions that will help UH Hilo to continue the research for Rat Lung Worm disease that has
significantly affected the communities in Hawai'i. Funding for ongoing research on the
. transmission, management and treatment is essential for containment of the disease. UH Hilo
has the expertise and research lab facilities to provide this type of research. Your support and
generous funding will help our community to maintain their health and wellness.
