We have 67 dogs and more than 300 cats in residence. As I am not able to come in person before you tomorrow, January 4, 2018, I am sending you an email. Hawaii Island has a tremendous opportunity to be an example to the world. Hawaii Island is a very special island, with 21 of the 22 ecosystems on the planet. We have been in Kurtistown with the sanctuary for 18 years. We have seen thousands of dogs and cats leave the sanctuary for excellent homes. And a lot more needs to be accomplished embracing the vision of a No Kill Hawaii or an Animal Alive Hawaii! To be this example we need a comprehensive program and plan to accomplish the goal of sustainable animal population management within 4 years. We need monthlyor continued humane, targeted sterilization clinics around the island. 9 We need several high volume week-long spay and neuter clinics during a year for 4 years. We need continued adoptions to good homes, also off island. We need foster families for temporary animal care. We need a sanctuary for special need animals. We need maybe a smaller sanctuary in each sub division around the island, that can handle and manage the loose animals in that sub division. Mo uIII' 2' 1 Ref. To: ac' .
