On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, and the first working day of each following month, the
Hawaii Emergency Management Agency will test its nuclear attack warning sirens
statewide at 11:45AM.
Wherever you are, come out into a visible public place, in your neighborhood,along a public roadway,
etc. and hold a sign for 15-30 minutes from 11:30-12 noon on the day of the Nuclear Attack Siren Test
with a message such as "No Nukes,No War,No Need Sirens,The Only Shelter is Peace." The Hawaii
Emergency Management Agency wants us to know that if the sirens wail and its not a drill people will
have only 15 minutes notice before a possible nuclear explosion.
Main 'Aina's message is "the only shelter is Peace. Nuclear weapons have made our world defenseless.
The only real defense against nuclear weapons is to stop building them. On July 7,2017 the UN
General Assembly overwhelming voted(122 yes, 1 no)to abolish nuclear weapons. Earth's future now
hangs in the balance. The U.S. is the only country on earth to ever use nuclear weapons. Today the
U.S. has Korea, China,Russia, and Iran,surrounded with U.S.military installations.The U.S.has a
major responsibility to help the world step back from the nuclear abyss. It is up to each one of us to
let our voices be heard—NO Nukes,NO War,NO Need Sirens! The future of unborn generations
depend on what we do,or don't do, now.

The;big question about the False North Korean missile attack on Hawai'i is: will it fuel more pro
war nonsense,including missile defense, `attack Korea before Korea attacks us'mentality,people

Hawai'i has more than 100 U.S. military sites,including major force installations for the Army,
Navy,Air Force and Marines,including the Pacific Command(PACOM)that covers more than half
the earth.Instead of protecting Hawai'i,these military sites make Hawai'i a prime target for attack.

Hawaii Plutonium Fallout from Nuclear Tests on Johnston Atoll '
Papaikou, Hawaii has the highest level of Plutonium fallout of any site tested globally in
this U.S.Atomic Energy Commission •(AEC) study published in the prestigious British
journal Nature. What a distinction to have! Papaikou appears to be representative of
the windward sides of the Hawaiian islands. High rainfall likely brought down the
fallout from nuclear tests done,at Johnston atoll. Twelve atomic and hydrogen bombs
were tested at Johnston atoll, located 900 miles southwest of the Big island. Plutonium

An Uncounted U.S. Nuclear Testing Hawaiian Casualty
Between 1946 and 1963,while the United States tested nuclear bombs in the Pacific, hundreds of
civilian construction workers were lured to such places as Eniwetok in the Marshall Islands in the
western Pacific and Johnston atoll located 850 miles southwest of Honolulu with the promise of high
wages in a safe working environment. Among those,in the 1960s,was my brother-in-law. In his
thirties,married,father of young children,he went down with a group from Hawai'i. His goal was to
earn enough to build a nice house where his:children would "never have to be ashamed to bring their
friends home."
There was little recreation available,and some workers blew their big money on drinking and
gambling,nut he and his companions resolutely saved their pay for their families back home. Instead,
they enjoyed the simple pleasures of fishing. They were allowed to fish,but they had been told not to
eat what they caught. That made no sense to the Hawaiians. They spent their leisure time fishing,
cooking on the beach,and eating together.
After his first year,my brother-in-law came home proudly,with enough money saved to build the
outside shell of his house. Friends and family helped raise the structure,and he moved in with his wife
and children. He was happy,even when we teased him about the strange blisters on his face. They
had been diagnosedby the doctor down there as "sunburn." Not to worry. "What kind Hawaiian
you?" we teased. "How come you get sunburn?"
He signed up for another year,then returned home again with enough money to complete the
interior of his house. He looked tired,and he had lost a lot of weight. One sister-in-law and I looked
at each other with concern. "He doesn't look good. And remember that rash he had last time! You
think he get radiation sickness?" We refrained from worrying the rest of the family with our
suspicions,but quietly urged himnot togo back. He brushed us off. "One more time. Gotta get
furniture for my kids."
After his third year he came home skin and bones. Barely abler to walk. Now it was obvious to the
rest of the family what we had suspected. Shocked by his appearance,frightened,then angry about
the.doctor's "sunburn" diagnosis,they took him to a "good" doctor,who confirmed our fears.
Radiation sickness, Leukemia.
He died a few months later in the nice house with the nice furniture,his family around him,having
given them his best.
Two of us tried to persuade his widow to file a complaint. To demand compensation. Anything!
But she would not.Bitterly,she said, "for what? That's not gonna bring him back?" Generations of
subjugation had taught her that"making waves" only brought trouble back on one's self. To'
challenge the United States nuclear program was beyond her capability, and she implored.us not to
make waves.
Later,we learned'that one of my brother-in-law's fellow workers on Eniwetok had also died of
leukemia. We never heard of any others,but we wondered....
Hundreds of thousands of civilians have been sickened or killed over the years as a result of
America's-nuclear testing. How many cases remain uncounted because they were never documented
as such?

Hawaii Undel Nuclear Attack!
The enormous U.S. military presence in Hawaii makes Hawaii and its people(residents and visitors
alike)vulnerable to attack and has major ongoing environmental consequences. There is no question
that Major military command and force installations on Oahu would be prime targets.in the event of
any nuclear war.Places such as the Pacific Command at Camp H.M.Smith located above Aloha
stadium,Pearl Harbor,Hickam Air Force base,Schofield Barracks,Kaneohe Marine Corps Air
Station,the NSA base near Wahiawa,major munition bases at West Loch of Pearl Harbor,Lualualei
on the Waianae coast, etc. For decades,there has been a military command plane named the"Blue
Eagle" on 24 hour alert at Hickam A.F.Base to take military commanders airborne in the event of any
nuclear attack while the rest of us remain sitting ducks. It has been reported that the pilot and copilot
on"Blue Eagle"wear eye patches to prevent total blindness from nuclear blast flashes.
Recently,the Hawaii State Emergency Management Agency has issued a warning that a North
Korean missile attack would only involve 20 minutes from launch to detonation. Their only advice is
get indoors,stay indoors and stay tuned. Nuclear fallout could cover all the islands depending on

Hawaii has already suffered effects from nuclear war preparations. Pearl Harbor is a superfund
toxic waste site. Liquid nuclear waste has been discharged into Pearl Harbor and more than 2000
drums of solid nuclear waste have been dumped off Oahu's southern shores. Nuclear accidents—
release of radioactive materials(classified top secret) have reportedly taken place on Oahu.Military
fuel tanks are leaking and threatening ground water contamination in the Red Hill area near Tripler
Army hospital. Depleted Uranium radiation weapons have been used at Schofield Barracks,the
Pohakuloa Training Area(PTA)on Hawaii Island and possibly other sites in Hawaii such as Makua
Valley and Kaho'olawe. The PTA contaminated sites continue to be bombed with high explosives.
During atmospheric nuclear weapon testing in the late 1950s and early 60s, 12 U.S. atomic and
hydrogen bombs were set off'at Johnston Island located 500-700 miles south west of Hawaii. 67 U.S.
nuclear tests were done in the Marshall islands in Micronesia. The nuclear flash on Johnston Island
couldbe seen from Oahu. Street lights went out. Later soil testing determined that Hawaii had
plutonium contamination. Upper jet stream winds travel west to east and rain brought the fallout

The late retired Commander-in-Chief,Pacific Command(CINCPAC)Admiral Noel Gayler called
for the abolition of nuclear weapons and put forward'a proposal in 2000 to achieve this goal.His
assessment was influenced by viewing Hiroshima from the air only six days after its devastation on
August 6, 1945 by a US nuclear weapon. He also witnessed the atmospheric testing of thermonuclear
weapons in the Marshall Islands in the 1960s. In his proposal,Adm. Gayler dispels some common
