- Y OF yt/' COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII • RESOLUTION NO. 503 18 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO DARE HAWAII FOR THE 2018 DARE DAY CELEBRATION EVENT IN EAST HAWAII. WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established 30 years ago to teach our youth to make safe and responsible decisions, to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence, to avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII is coordinating two 2018 DARE Day Celebrations in May, one in East Hawai`i and one in West Hawai`i, to commemorate the graduation of students who complete the DARE 10-week Educational Program; and WHEREAS, over 100 students from Hilo Intermediate School will have completed the DARE 10-week Educational Program, earning the opportunity to participate in the 2018 DARE Day Celebration on May 29, 2018 at Pahoa Regional Park; and WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII has requested $1,000 to pay for transportation services for students of Hilo Intermediate School who will be attending this celebration to recognize their achievement; and WHEREAS, DARE HAWAII has also requested $1,000 for food and refreshments for the students attending the East Hawai`i event; and WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support youth programs, such as DARE Hawai`i,that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our youth how to make safe and responsible choices; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to DARE HAWAII for transportation services for Hilo Intermediate School students, food, and refreshments for its 2018 DARE Day Celebration event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
