RESOLUTION NO. 505 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA
SCHOOLS SUPPORT FOUNDATION FOR THE 2018 PAHOA HIGH SCHOOL
PROJECT GRAD NIGHT.
WHEREAS,the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose
mission is to supplement and fund activities to promote educational opportunities at Pahoa High
and Intermediate School, Pahoa Elementary School, and Keonepoko Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is collaborating with students,
parents, faculty, and staff at Pahoa High School to provide a fun and safe event for graduates
immediately following commencement ceremonies on May 27, 2018; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 Pahoa High School Project Grad Night event is a drug- and
alcohol-free event that will take graduates to various venues in Hilo for the evening allowing
them to participate in and enjoy fun and safe activities on one of the biggest nights of their lives;
and
WHEREAS, the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is requesting funds to assist with
expenses related to the 2018 Pahoa High School Project Grad Night event, such as
transportation, food and beverages, decorations, and prizes; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports pro-social engagement for
youth and young adults that promote sober fun through participation in drug- and alcohol-free
events with peers; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pahoa Schools Support Foundation for expenses relating
to the 2018 Pahoa High School Project Grad Night event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
