Poindexter, Chairwoman Members of the County Council County of Hawaii RE: Testimony in support of Bill No. 99 To Whom it may concern: I am writing you today in strong support of Bill No. 99 Relating to Naming the Lower Ball field at Honoka'a. Park the "Lala Epenesa, Jr. Ballfield" In honor of Lala Epenesa, Jr. Lala was a graduate of Honoka'a High School and a devoted and dedicated sportsman and coach who enjoyed playing in competition as much as he loved sharing his love for sports with generations of Hamakua youth whom he touched through coaching. Recently, Honoka'a High School posthumously retired Lala's Football Number#44 from the school's roster in recognition of the dedication, contributions, and service that Lala made to the school and the community. Lala unselfishly gave of his time on the field of play, coaching from the sidelines, and through community service with the Hamakua Lions and numerous other community groups. Lala's passing is a great loss to the Honoka'a community and it is most fitting that this action be made by the County Council to recognize this lifelong resident who positively impacted so many lives through his generosity and caring.
