RESOLUTION NO. 514 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO COMMUNITY FIRST
INC. FOR TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES RELATED TO TROPIC CARE 2018.
WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to
achieving a sustainable medical system that provides quality care for everyone in our
community; and
WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is working in cooperation with the United States
Army Reserve and the Hawai`i State Department of Health to put on Tropic Care 2018, which is
an Innovative Readiness Training program that trains volunteer military personnel while
addressing the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, Tropic Care 2018 will provide free health care to the public on June 18-28,
2018, at Kea'au High School; and
WHEREAS, transportation is needed to bring those in need of free health care from
other Council districts to Kea'au; and
WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is requesting funds to cover expenses for the
transportation of military personnel and residents from Council District 9 to Kea'au High School
for Tropic Care 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs that
facilitate innovative public-private partnerships to create training and career opportunities for a
resilient workforce in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to'Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to Community First Inc. for transportation
expenses related to Tropic Care 2018.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
