RESOLUTION NO. 517 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO COMMUNITY FIRST
INC. FOR TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES RELATING TO TROPIC CARE 2018.
WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose
is to foster good health and disease prevention on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is working collaboratively with the United States
Army Reserve and State Department of Health to coordinate Tropic Care 2018, which is a
military Innovative Readiness Training program that addresses the needs of the community while
providing military personnel with mission-essential training; and
WHEREAS, Tropic Care 2018 will provide free physical exams and medical screenings
to the general public on June 18-28, 2018, at Kea'au High School; and
WHEREAS, to increase Hawai`i Island's workforce, military health professionals will
also be present to provide information on career opportunities in the health field; and
WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is requesting funds to assist with transporting
military personnel and medical equipment and supplies for Tropic Care 2018; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports initiatives that help
to develop and maintain a healthy and informed workforce; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to Community First Inc. to assist with
transportation expenses for Tropic Care 2018.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
