Home My WebLink AboutREP AWESC 003 2018/02/21 (2016-2018) REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE,WATER AND ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY DATE: February 21, 2018 Re: Communication No. 751 PLACE: Council Chambers Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 1:05 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Agriculture, Water and Energy Sustainability,to which was referred Communication No. 751, report as follows: Communication No. 751,transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated January 31, 2018, nominates Grayson Hashida of Council District 6 to the County of Hawai`i Game Management Advisory Commission. Motion to approve nomination of Grayson Hashida was made by Council Member David; 211d by Council Member Eoff. As introduced by Ms. Barbara Kossow, Deputy Managing Director for the County of Hawai`i, Mr. Hashida is an employee of the State of Hawai`i Judiciary as a Drug Court Coordinator and Probation Officer on Hawai`i Island, and is an avid hunter and fisherman who resides in West Hawai`i. Mr. Hashida is not affiliated with any political party, and if confirmed he will fill a term ending December 31, 2022. Nominee Hashida was present and thanked the Committee for the opportunity to serve and noted his passion for hunting and fishing, and that he looks forward to working with the commission. Council Members from Council Districts 6, 7, and 8 echoed each other providing full support of the nomination and noting that Mr. Hashida will complement the existing commission members, has the background and respect for the culture of hunting and fishing, and can provide a regulatory aspect to the table as well. Committee Chair Richards thanked nominee Hashida for his willingness to serve and advised that due to his appearance and approval today, it was not required for him to attend the upcoming confirmation Council meeting.
