Dear Councilman Tyler,
As per our telephone conversation this morning, I am requesting that as Chair of the
Human Services & Economic Development Committee, you defer discussion of
Communication #338 scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the July 7, 1999 meeting of your
committee.
As I mentioned in our conversation today, the East Hawaii Cultural Council chair, Vicki
Rohner, and vice-chair, Sudah Achar are both out of town until late July and therefore
no officers would be available to present testimony regarding Comm. #338 at the July
7th meeting. Materials collected and written by those two key people in key positions
are not available to me and I don't wish to take up your committee's valuable time
without having sufficient information to provide. I therefore request that this matter
be deferred until the .r'leX{- meeting of that Committee, at which time both officers
will be available to present information.
Additionally, I am personally involved as coordinator of the George Winston concert on
July 7th which benefits the Big Island Slack Key Guitar Festival, a East Hawaii Cultural
Council production. I am also the director of that Festival and both are major events
which require a large amount of time and energy so I am also unable to attend that
meeting or track down and compile information.
Thank you for your understanding and I apologize for any inconvenience this request
for deferral may cause.
