REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC SAFETY <br /> AND MASS TRANSIT <br /> DATE: February 21, 2018 Re: Comm.No. 748 <br /> PLACE: Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:28 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Safety and Mass Transit,to which was referred Communication <br /> No. 748, reports as follows: <br /> Communication 748, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated January 31, 2018, nominates <br /> John Walker of Council District 7 to the Transportation Commission. Mr. Walker retired from <br /> Cadman, Inc., a leading supplier of construction and building materials in Washington State. He <br /> is also a former Mayor and Council Member of Sultan, Washington. During his tenure in city <br /> government, Mr. Walker participated in the forefront of planning and development of the mass <br /> transit and light rail systems in Snohomish and King County, Washington. <br /> Mr. Walker was present in the Kailua-Kona Council Chambers and stated that he retired in <br /> Hawai`i 10 years ago and now volunteers his time as President of his condominium board and <br /> other organizations. Mr. Walker is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will <br /> serve a term ending December 31, 2021.
