Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Myrick "Rick" W. Gaffney to the Environmental
Management Commission (EMC). Mr. Gaffney is the President and Managing Broker of
Pacific Boats & Yachts in Kailua-Kona.
Mr. Gaffney was born and raised in Hawai'i. He is a graduate of the Punahou School,
holds a BS Degree in Political Science from Oregon State University, and earned a
fellowship with the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography. He
also served in the US Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran.
Mr. Gaffney is an active community member and generously volunteers his time to
many organizations. He currently serves on the Advisory Council of the Northwest
Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve, the Hawaiian Islands Humpback
Whale National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Commission, a Founding Member and Co-
chair of the West Hawai'i Fishery Council and numerous others.
Mr. Gaffney is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term
ending December 31, 2022.
