RESOLUTION NO. 530 IS
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEA`AU
COUGARS ATHLETIC BOOSTERS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO
KEA`AU HIGH SCHOOL'S GRAD NIGHT 2018.
WHEREAS, the Kea`au Cougars Athletic Boosters is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that supports Kea`au High School's athletics and student activities; and
WHEREAS, the Kea`au Cougars Athletic Boosters will be collaborating with students,
parents, faculty, and staff of Kea`au High School to provide a fun and safe event for graduates
immediately following commencement ceremonies on May 25, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Grad Night 2018 is a drug- and alcohol -free event that will take graduates
to various venues in Hilo for the evening allowing them to participate in and enjoy one of the
biggest nights of their lives; and
WHEREAS, the Kea`au Cougars Athletic Boosters is requesting fiends to assist with
expenses related to Grad Night 2018, such as transportation, food and beverages, decorations,
and prizes; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports prosocial engagements for
youth and young adults that promote sober fun through participation in drug- and alcohol -free
events with peers; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Kea`au Cougars Athletic Boosters for expenses relating
to Kea`au High School's Grad Night 2018.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
