STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ••,''•▪•'.ATE OF.Ht.. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 542 i8 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO COMMUNITY FIRST <br /> INC., FOR TRANSPORTATION EXPENSES RELATING TO TROPIC CARE 2018. <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to create a sustainable medical system which provides quality care for all the people of <br /> Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS CommunityFirst is workingcollaborativelywith the United States <br /> Inc., <br /> Army Reserve and State Department of Health to coordinate Tropic Care 2018; and <br /> WHEREAS, Tropic Care is a Department of Defense Innovative Readiness Training <br /> operation that provides medical support to a variety of underserved American populations <br /> located in remote or rural areas throughout the United States and U.S. territories, which in turn <br /> provides military personnel with mission-essential training; and <br /> WHEREAS, Tropic Care 2018 will provide free health exams, dental services, hearing <br /> screenings, nutritional services, veteran services, eye exams, and prescription single lens eye <br /> glasses to the general public from June 18 through June 28, 2018 at Kea`au High School; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc., is requesting funds to assist with transporting <br /> military personnel, as well as residents from Honoka'a to Keaau School for Tropic Care 2018; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, to increase Hawaii Islands workforce, military health professionals will <br /> also be present to provide information on career opportunities in the health field; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports initiatives that help <br /> develop innovative partnerships to create opportunities for a resilient workforce in Hawai`i <br /> County; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Community First Inc., to assist with <br /> transportation expenses for Tropic Care 2018. <br />
