Aloha Councilmembers,
Please support Bill 102 at Finance Committee on Tuesday, February 6, with these changes:
Do not tax food or medical needs Section - I
As you know, the median income in Hawai'i County is below the state average. In Puna and Ka'u, every
schoolchild qualifies for free or reduced lunch. And food stamps are slated to be cut 25% over the next
10 years.
Delete "public roadways or highways" Section -2 (a) (I
After years of haphazard bus service, we finally have a public transportation plan that needs funding,
and should be implemented before it goes out of date or public support dwindles.
