Subject: NO ON GET INCREASE
Hawaii has one of the, if not, the highest cost of living in the nation. That is not news to anyone. We also have
one of the highest level of taxation in the nation. That is not new to any taxpayer either! This high level of
taxation significantly adds to the burden of the average resident of the Big Island struggling to provide for
their families. The cost of living requires the average two parent family to each work multiple jobs, leaving
children with limit time with their parents. To propose raising the GET shows a complete lack of
consideration for the people of this County. While this small raise is presented as a minor burden, that
burden means residents will have to cut elsewhere. It is also a fact that a GET tax is typically applied more
than once on any product that a resident buys. That means a minor increase is actually means a significant
cost increase.
I strongly urge you to reject the GET increase and vote NO on Bill 102.
