Dear County Council Members,
CID
I am opposed to raising the GET tax.
The burden will once again fall on the people who can least afford it.
However, if the County had a concurrent reduction in the Property tax and fuel tax as suggested by Councilman''
Richards, February 12th's WHT, then raising the GET might be more palatable to those of us who are full time
residents on fixed incomes.
Whatever the Council decides I hope the Council members who are out driving the roads of West Hawaii get on the
stick and make some critical road repairs happen and put pressure on the State to get some road widening and
improvements happening. Our traffic is getting worse and our roads are not keeping up with the demand.
Also, the councils and mayors of the neighbor counties need to force the State to return the TAT to its original intent
and amounts so we get our fair share. This would relieve our county of our financial troubles.
Mahalo,
