Subject: Bill 112 - Rooster Farms - Support.

Dear County Council Members,'
I would like to testify in support of Bill 112 Relating to Rooster Farms.
I live in a neighborhood that has recently been severely impacted by the arrival
of 3 5+ roosters that are tethered in metal A frames and crow at high decibels from early morning
sometimes as early as IAM ! ) through sunset.
The constant noise is very irritating and nerve rattling and rob me of the quiet enjoyment of my
property.
I have lived in Hawi for over 25 years and understand that living on AG zoned land goes along with
all the noises of agricultural activity . I have no problem with that. However raising roosters to fight
is no agricultural activity in my view. I understand that respecting cultural heritage is important.
According to local resident elders that entails raising a few roosters untethered in the backyard not
the battery style rooster farms we are encountering here on small Ag lots.
In short:
I am concerned about having an operation supporting criminal activity in my close neighborhood.
I am concerned about constant noise pollution and the subsequent sleep depravation.
I am concerned about animal and human welfare.
I strongly support Bill 112, the measure to restrict rooster farms, and hope that the county
government will enact it.
Mahalo,
Kerstin
