Subject: Testimony to support bill #112 - Rooster Farms

To Whom it concerns, I support the bill being introduced to restrict rooster farms on the Island of
Hawaii
I concur that it is a nuisance and detrimental to the safety and well being of residents. I live next to
a rooster farm that is set up for the sole purpose of selling the roosters for illegal cock fighting. I
have not been able to get any relief from the roosters crowing in the wee hours of the night and
then heavily from 4:00 am until 9:00 am when they are also joined in by howling dogs. I do not
believe that the people selling these birds raised on their agricultural land have a GE licence and are
therefore probably not reporting their income from the sale of the birds or paying taxes. So in
short, allowing roosters farms is another way of assisting criminals and attracting them to
agricultural subdivisions where there are residences.
I do pay thousands of dollars in tax between my property taxes and my business license and feel that
I do not get any return on the value of those taxes as the law enforcement does nothing since they
say there are no laws other than nuiscance laws but they don't enforce those either
