to one rooster farm and adjacent to another. My neighbors are good people,
however their rooster operations have filled the entire neighborhood with noise
pollution and significantly devalued property values and our ability to sell our
homes. There has been litigation with a previous neighbor who had lived on their
property for 30 years. The rooster farmers moved in and they couldn't bear the
noise. The noise pollution is incredible. I have lived in cities next to fire stations,
one block from a major interstate, and owned 40 chickens on the mainland. I can
deal with noise. This is extreme. It goes on all daylong, and intermittently
throughout the night. The negative effects on health, though not quantified are
real.
would have come to testify in person, but this issue so animates both sides that
don't think it is wise. I have chosen not to identify myself in this missive as I have
already received online intimidation and threats. I'm sure this council meeting will
be no different. Also, in the event this bill doesn't pass, I don't want to have ruined
my relationships with my rooster "farming" neighbors and open myself up to more
threats, theft, and continued intimidation.
