production, it's not for any reasonable agriculture purpose but for cockfighting. Which is
animal abuse, gambling by the underground hoods, and leads to further criminal activity.
My local born friend built his retirement home in Fern Acres. Shortly, a neighbor some 100 to
200 feet away, brought in roughly 500 cockfighting roosters, and from that day there was
never ever a moment of peace and quiet. 24/7 the roosters constantly "crowing", At night,
the handlers would put up loads of lights for training them for aggression.
There was cockfighting events held on that property. No relief ever! Police were called,
nothing happened... boldly it continued. My friend wrote letters to government
officials... nothing could be done as there was no law to stop the insanity of what continued to
go on year after year. Losers of the cockfighting sometimes throw out the dead or dying
roosters from their cars along the road way.
If a police officer were called for the cockfighting, nothing happened for various reasons.
have a neighbor for years has chickens and roosters he does not care or feed .... except a
rooster he selects from the group he thinks that can be a good fighter. They don't harvest the
eggs, and constant chicks are hatched. The rest are hungry and forage for food, which
causes damage to my property. On my home of Post and Pier at the base of the cement
blocks, his chicken's and roosters dig/scratch under and I have to fill up the open holes they
leave.
Over the years the mulch I've paid for as ground cover now rich with worms for my healthy
garden and fruit trees is constantly being damaged by his fowls. The roosters claws are built
stronger and cause more damage. They scratch up the fine root system weakening my
plants/trees. Its my time and money having to do repairs caused by their destruction. For my
own animals I have to stand by to make sure my dog and cats are able to eat their food,
because his roosters will aggressively intimated my animals for it. Nor can I leave food out.
Health concerns - These fowl/roosters are lice/mite infested and carry diseases that potential
are harmful to me, and my animals. He doesn't treat for anything let alone feed. The more
common diseases associated with chickens: Salmonella, Listeria, Campylobacter and E.coli.
The intestinal bacterium Enterococcus faecalis can transmit from chickens to humans, causing
urinary tract infections. Fowls run around defecating all over the place, and us humans often

come into contact with their faeces, it's fairly safe to assume that the infection route for the
bacterium goes to the human intestines.
My grandparents in Kamuela had a farm, with very healthy fat chickens but never a rooster.
Egg production was just fine to meet our needs for breakfast, and for making bread. Chickens
were not allowed to roam outside of their huge fenced in grass paddock. Good stewardship
on caring for animals.
What also is not being acknowledged (difficult to document) as I'm sure it is happening is the
killing of our native birds our hawk and owls by owners of tethered roosters. These roosters
can win big gambling money but our native birds of prey sees these roosters as an easy
meal. There is no doubt that our native birds are being "silently" killed in order to protect their
Rooster gambling investment.
No animal should be tethered, and that doing so to roosters need to be illegal as well.
