am writing to OPPOSE Bill 112.
Most of Puna is Agriculturally zoned this means farming IS allowed. Farming include%3
raising farm animals. Farm animals are not quiet. If people have problems with farm o
animal noise, smell, etc then they purchased in the wrong area and should have
bought in a residential zoned area or"one with CC&R (Codes, Covenants and
Restrictions) regulating the area.
If this bill is approved, who will be enforcing it? The police? They are extremely
overworked and under staffed already. They don't have time to deal with barking
dogs. The Humane Society? They don't have the manpower and will call the
extremely overworked and under staffed police to handle it. Police are not employed
to be animal catchers.
Who will be responsible for the wild roosters all over the island?
If this bill is passed what farm animal will be next? Cows, sheep, goats, geese, etc.
This will not be beneficial to agriculture on the island.
Anyone that has raised chickens knows that roosters are not the only noisemakers.
Hens can be just as noisy when they lay their eggs.
I raise egg layers and breed them. Due to the number of different breeds I have I
need a rooster for every breed I have to make chicks. I am, not a rooster farm
although according to this bill I am.
There are bigger more important issues that need to be handled on this island. For
example: meth/ice, over crowded jail houses, criminals getting out the next day due
to Prosecutors letting them go just to name a few.
