Subject: Bill Rooster farms& ¢

I am against the bill for rooster farms. Families purposely buy land that is labled Ag land to
raise animals as they wish for food, pets or ro sell to make a living. People who buy Ag land,
know that the purpose other people buy Ag land is to raise animals also. You have full
knowledge that there is a chance your neighbor will be raising animals that make noise, will
be seen and may have smells. If you want peace and quiet and not want to hear animals
then you don't buy property there. That is why we have residential properties. If people
moved into Residential areas and started saying we should pass a bill saying that we
should allow live stock people there would not agree. They would say buy a place that is Ag
land. If you pass a bill limiting the number of roosters then that is just a snowball effect of
more limitations on other animals. It will affect a great amount of people in Puna on Ag
land. Most people who have Ag land would not even be able to raise any roosters because
most properties are not wide enough to follow the 75 foot rule. I am on Ag 3 acre spaghetti
lot that is only 150 feet wide and over 1000 feet long. This rule would not allow me to have
any roosters. Also limiting me to have only 4 roosters will limit me to raise the different pure
breeds I need. to thrive. I am not a chicken fighter. Nor do i raise any type of fighting
chickens. I also do not agree with chickrn fighting. I need 1 roosters for every breed of
chicken and color. One breed may come in multiple colors. I will need one of each color to
keep them pure. Bringing in chickens to Hawaii is very expensive. I raise specific rare
breeds to sell to make extra money to help pay for every day living expenses. With the cost.
of living so high in Hawaii having a job does not always generate enough income to live on.
Farming is a way of life I have always known and limiting me on what I can and can not
have will, defeat the purpose of me purposely buying Agriculture land to raise the farm
animals I want and need to survive. If you don't like the sounds, sights and smell of a farm
then you don't buy Agriculture land.
Thank you for your consideration,
