Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 521-18, reports as follows:
Resolution 521-18, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 784 dated
February 23, 2018, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal
year for a multi-year lease for five (5) digital multi-function copy machines for the Department of
Environmental Management.
This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement for five copiers at an
approximate monthly cost of$300 each. Four copiers would replace units at various Solid Waste
scalehouses and baseyards and one copier would be used at the Pu'uanahulu scalehouse.
Council Member Eileen O'Hara asked Solid Waste Division Chief Gregory Goodale for a brief
explanation of this resolution. Mr. Goodale stated that doing a multi-year agreement allows for
upgrades as opposed to a purchase situation, whereby equipment replacement parts are obsolete.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 521-18, and
recommends its adoption.
