Dear Chair Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Gregory Charles Henkel of Council District 5 to the Fire
Commission.
Mr. Henkel has been employed at Connections Public Charter School and Hawaii
Academy of Arts and Science. He attended Appalachian State University and graduated
with Essential Medical Training for Army Aviators in 1971.
As the past Chairperson of the Windward Planning Commission, Mr. Henkel has a list of
community service, which includes previous time on the Fire Commission from 2010
through 2013 and being a member of the Puna Canoe Club.
Mr. Henkel indicates that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will
serve a full term that expires December 31, 2022.
