Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Shelly Bee Naungayan of Council District 3 to the Public
Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (PONC). Ms.
Naungayan recently retired from the Department of Education after 34 years of
teaching.
Ms. Naungayan holds a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the Brigham Young
University in Provo, Utah and a B.A. in English and Education from the University of
Hawai'i at Hilo. Ms. Naungayan was born on Oahu and lived most of her life on the Big
Island. She is also very active in her church community.
Ms. Naungayan states she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will
serve a vacant term ending December 31, 2018.
