Poindexter at 5:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers, Hilo. ATTENDANCE: Present: Ms. Valerie T. Poindexter, Chair Ms. Karen Eoff, Vice Chair Mr. Aaron S. Y. Chung, Member Ms. Maile Medeiros David, Member Mr. Dru Mamo Kanuha, Member Ms. Susan L. K. Lee Loy, Member Ms. Eileen O’Hara, Member Mr. Herbert M. “Tim” Richards, III, Member Ms. Jennifer Ruggles, Member PURPOSE OF The hearing was held to hear testimony from the public pursuant to the HEARING: requirements of Section 46- 16.8(c) of the Hawaiʻi Revised Statues, which requires a public hearing prior to adoption of a county surcharge on state tax. Bill 102, Draft 2, establishes a one-half percent general excise and use tax surcharge to fund operating or capital costs of public transportation systems within Hawaiʻi County, to be levied beginning January 1, 2019.
