RESOLUTION NO. 563 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ARTS AND
SCIENCE CENTER FOR THE HAWAII ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCE
PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL'S SENIOR TRIP AND GRADUATION DINNER.
WHEREAS, the Arts and Science Center(ASC) is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization,
established in Pahoa in 2003, that supports community development, greater access to education,
and improving the quality of life through learning with aloha; and
WHEREAS, ASC is collaborating with students, parents, teachers, and staff of the
Hawai`i Academy of Arts and Science Public Charter School (HAASPCS)to provide a senior
trip and graduation dinner for the graduating seniors of HAASPCS, class of 2018; and
WHEREAS, ASC is requesting funds to assist with transportation costs for a day trip to
Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area and for dinner at the Queens Court Restaurant for 40 students
and their adult chaperones; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports prosocial engagement for youth
and young adults that promote sober fun through participation in drug- and alcohol-free events
with peers; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to ASC for the HAASPCS senior trip and graduation dinner.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
