SG 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CATHOLIC <br /> CHARITIES HAWAII FOR ITS 2018 WEST HAWAII FAITH-BASED SUMMIT TO <br /> END FAMILY HOMELESSNESS. <br /> WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was <br /> chartered in 1947 to expand upon the work begun by the Catholic Women's Aid Society in 1858; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i provides a wide range of social services through <br /> programs and advocacy efforts and serves all people, especially those with the greatest need, <br /> regardless of faith and culture; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2018 West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit to End Family Homelessness <br /> is a gathering of the faith-based community and the nonprofit sector that addresses family <br /> homelessness by providing attendees valuable information, support opportunities, and <br /> connections to available network resources; and <br /> WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i will hold its West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit <br /> to End Family Homelessness on September 22, 2018, at the Kona Old Airport; and <br /> WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i is requesting financial assistance for food, <br /> website fees, awards, leis for speakers, program printing, and other related expenses; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Office of Housing & Community Development supports events that <br /> promotes community development and housing opportunities that meets the needs of low- <br /> moderate-income residents; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of Housing <br /> and Community Development to provide a grant to Catholic Charities Hawai`i for expenses <br /> relating to its 2018 West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit to End Family Homelessness. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
