RESOLUTION NO. SG 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CATHOLIC
CHARITIES HAWAII FOR ITS 2018 WEST HAWAII FAITH-BASED SUMMIT TO
END FAMILY HOMELESSNESS.
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was
chartered in 1947 to expand upon the work begun by the Catholic Women's Aid Society in 1858;
and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i provides a wide range of social services through
programs and advocacy efforts and serves all people, especially those with the greatest need,
regardless of faith and culture; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit to End Family Homelessness
is a gathering of the faith-based community and the nonprofit sector that addresses family
homelessness by providing attendees valuable information, support opportunities, and
connections to available network resources; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i will hold its West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit
to End Family Homelessness on September 22, 2018, at the Kona Old Airport; and
WHEREAS, Catholic Charities Hawai`i is requesting financial assistance for food,
website fees, awards, leis for speakers, program printing, and other related expenses; and
WHEREAS,the Office of Housing & Community Development supports events that
promotes community development and housing opportunities that meets the needs of low-
moderate-income residents; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Office of Housing
and Community Development to provide a grant to Catholic Charities Hawai`i for expenses
relating to its 2018 West Hawai`i Faith-Based Summit to End Family Homelessness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
resolution to the Housing
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
