RESOLUTION NO. 578 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII WILDLIFE
CENTER FOR ITS WILDLIFE SERVICES PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Wildlife Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the
mission of protecting, conserving, and aiding in the recovery of Hawai`i's native wildlife
through hands-on treatment,research, training, science education, and cultural programs; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Wildlife Center is the first organization of its kind exclusively for
native Hawaiian wildlife that provides rehabilitation for native animals, including the Hawaiian
hoary bat; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Wildlife Center is requesting funds to assist with its Wildlife
Services program, specifically to provide treatment and food to the native wildlife patients in the
hospital, medications and diagnostic services, transportation, and maintenance of its hospital and
aviaries; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports programs that
promote sustainable development of agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, and other natural
resources in Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to Hawai`i Wildlife Center for expenses relating to
its Wildlife Services program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
