Subject: Rooster grievance
Hello,
My fiancé and I moved to HPP on 22nd Ave when I was pregnant to rent a house. It was perfect for us and hard to find a
rental that accepted pets. It was a quiet part of HPP and conveniently located off Shower Dr.Soon after I was home with
my newborn son my neighbors next door started getting some roosters in their backyard. At first it seemed like just a
few and then they started building all kinds of cages and pens and all of a sudden there were at least 50 roosters.The
noise during feeding time was overwhelming not to mention the crowing that started up at 4:30am everyday and went
on through the whole morning. I was not able to sleep and had to constantly either have music or white noise going to
drown out the noise from the roosters.As a brand new mom it was really the worst thing to not be able to sleep or relax
in my own home.As soon as I could I found another rental house and moved, much to the disappointment of my
landlord. She felt really bad about the whole situation and let us out of the lease, but I felt really bad as she has two
rental properties on the lot and they were both now empty.This is a huge problem in HPP and on the island. Between
the smell and the noise it is really unfair that people are able to raise the roosters in such a residential area. It is in
humane that it is known what they are raised for and that it is allowed to go on in plain sight.
