Subject: Thoughts from a Chicken Breeder (NOT COCKFIGHTING BIRDS) on your Bill 112
You absolutely CAN NOT try to push the rest of us who raise chickens NOT FOR FIGHTING into only having
4 roosters. You clearly lack any meaningful knowledge, because the proposed number of"4" Roosters is
outright moronic, and I'll go on to tell you why. I've also attached photographs to help further my point.
In no way have I ever supported cockfighting - it is stupid, cruel and wasteful. Wasteful of the birds, wasteful of
the land they are reared on, wasteful of all the feed inputs just to kill them and waste their carcasses. The people
who keep their birds tethered with minimal shelter are horrible. No one who gives a damn about their animals
puts them under tiny "a-frames" of roofing metal. They also tie them up, or put them in fenced small enclosures
and use free-running hens to taunt and rile the roosters up, while denying them any direct interaction. Don't you
dare confuse the rest of us undertaking legitimate agricultural pursuits which contribute to our livelihood
and the well being of the community with those idiots for one minute! I abhor people who engage in the
practice of cockfighting, so to hear that people like myself who are breeding and raising chickens for legitimate,
useful purposes are being lumped in with cruel, abusive criminals is ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. DON'T
YOU EVER CONFUSE US. IT IS BEYOND OFFENSIVE. I AND THEY ARE NOTHING ALIKE. I WILL
NOT BE PUNISHED FOR THE TRANSGRESSIONS OF SOME SOULLESS BASTARDS WHO ABUSE
ANIMALS.
I'm going to attempt to educate you guys, since you've clearly demonstrated yourselves to be in desperate need
of it. I'll use myself as an example. For 17 years, I breed several breeds of chickens for pets, for eggs, and for
meat. In order to prevent INBREEDING which leads to many physical deformities, many of which are
fatal and ALL of which render the deformed offspring unfit for breeding, YOU MUST HAVE A
LARGER BASE OF GENETICS TO BEGIN WITH. Would you like blindness, eyes that fall out of the
sockets, twisted legs that render a bird crippled, organ failure, decreased disease resistance, infertility Cause
you're claiming, by your stupid, ignorant proposal, that this is exactly what I and others ought to damn and
condemn our birds to!
Considering this is my BUSINESS, having only 4 pairs or trios of a specific breed is inadequate. And that
would condemn me to only working with one breed. I raise Silkies, Seramas, Old English Bantams and Cornish
meat birds. HOW THE HELL WOULD I HAVE ENOUGH GENETIC DIVERSITY TO PULL THIS OFF
WITH ONLY 4 ROOSTERS? OH, THAT'S RIGHT - I WOULDN'T.
Maybe you want to do stupid, short-sighted things in the city. But keep your sheltered, ignorant, damaging ideas
to yourselves and KEEP OUT OF THE RURAL PLACES. You have NO business messing with us on ag land.
You don't belong. You don't like to hear roosters crowing? Go back to the damn mainland. You clearly don't
know a damn thing about ag land or what should be going on there. It isn't hard to spot a "rooster farm" from a
normal chicken breeding operation by the way, but this proposal is so painfully stupid you've convinced me you
wouldn't know the difference if it bit you.
