RESOLUTION NO. 5 18
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING.'THE'PAYMENT''OF FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL
YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF REAL
PROPERTY FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the.County.Charter:.requires that any contract, lease or other
obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriationsof a later fiscal year or of more than one
fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai`i Fire Department currently rents warehouse space
identified as a portion of TMK '(3) 2-2-040:036, Rental Space L, situated at 1990 Kino`ole Street,
District of South Hilo, County and State of Hawai`i, and owned by Kaneshiro & Sons Enterprise,
Limited and Glenn Kaneshiro Partnership ("Landlords"); and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai`i Fire Department continues to need this warehouse space
for the near future and so desires to:enter into a five year lease agreement commencing on June 1,
2018, for a five year term.ending May 31, 2023, with an additional five year option, with Landlords;
and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai`i Fire Department is requesting authorization for the Mayor
to enter into a multi-year lease agreement with Landlords for warehouse space; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
Honorable Harry Kim, Mayor of the County of Hawai`i,'is hereby authorized to enter into a multi-year
Lease with Kaneshiro & Sons Enterprise, Limited and Glenn Kaneshiro Partnership, for a five year
term beginning June 1, 2018, with an additional five year option.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to
cover the anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the Lease.
BE TT FINALLY RESOLVED that County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to:
(1) Mayor Harry Kim; (2) Department of Finance; (3) Fire Department; (4) Craig T. Masuda, Deputy
Corporation Counsel,Section Chief; and (5)'Mr. Glenn Kaneshiro, 1990 Kinoole Street#115, Hilo,
Hawai`i 96720.
