Aloha Hawaii County Council Chairwoman Poindexter,
Mayor Harry Kim recently nominated Allan Simeon to be the permanent Hawaii County Public Works director.
The mayor has made a good choice by keeping him in this role permanently. I've noticed a lot of improvements
department wise since he took over for Frank DeMarco in acting role several months ago. The overall morale of the
department has significantly improved since that time, and I've noticed a stronger emphasis of teamwork.
The Department of Public Works is one of key parts of county government. It needs someone with that inside
knowledge for it to run efficiently. Mr. Simeon has that knowledge from working in this department since 1997. He's
also been very helpful whenever I've had questions about any project that he was overseeing when he was a front line
engineer.
I strongly urge the Hawaii County Council to confirm Allan Simeon as the permanent director of Department of
Public Works.
