Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill No. 126,
reports as follows:
Bill No. 126,transmitted by Allan Simeon, Acting Director of Public Works, via Communication 830,
dated March 14, 2018, amends Chapter 24,Article 10, Division 3 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983
(2016 Edition, as amended), relating to bus.
This bill amends Section 24-275, Schedule 23 (Bus Stop locations), Subsection(c), South Hilo,
by removing an existing bus stop to allow for parallel on-street parking stalls along a portion of
Hualalai Street.
Public Works Director Allan Simeon wrote that the subject bus stop was confirmed by the County's
Mass Transit Agency to be inactive and it was not being used by the adjacent St. Joseph schools.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and intent of
Bill No. 126, and recommends its passage on first reading.
