No. 838 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 10:49 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 838, reports as follows: Communication No. 838, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 21, 2018, nominates Shellie Bee Naungayan of District 3 to the Hawai`i County Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (PONC). If confirmed, she will serve to fill a vacant term ending December 31, 2018. Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Shellie Bee Naungayan. Ms. Naungayan holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education from the University of Hawai`i at Hilo. She is also active in her church community. Nominee Naungayan was present and expressed that it would be an honor to serve on the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission. Several Council Members commented in favor of her appointment. Chair David stated that Ms. Naungayan did not need to appear at the next Council meeting for confirmation of her appointment. Pursuant to Article 42, Section 2-1215(a), Hawai`i County Code, there is established an Public Access, Open Space , and Natural Resources Preservation Commission, which shall consist of nine members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
