Dear Chair Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate David Wiseman, Retired Judge, of Council District 7 to the
Board of Ethics. Judge Wiseman recently retired as Associate Judge of the U.S.
Commonwealth Superior Court in Saipan, U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern
Mariana Islands (CNMI) after 15 years on the bench, 14 years of which as Designated
Judge for the United States District Court of the Northern Mariana Islands. Judge
Wiseman spent a total of 39 years working in the CNMI in various capacities as an
attorney.
Judge Wiseman obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from
Suffolk University and Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School in Boston.
Judge Wiseman has a long list of notable accomplishments and accolades. Since his
retirement to the Big Island in 2016, he has been active with the Little Fire Ant Hui and
the West Hawai'i Mediation Center.
He is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, Judge Wiseman will serve a
term that expires December 31, 2021.
