REQUEST: Requesting a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Hawaii for a Right-of-Entry agreement to grant the State access for maintenance activities of the King Kamehameha the Great Statue located in Kapaau, North Kohala. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): In 1878, the Legislature of the Kingdom of Hawaii commissioned a sculpture of King Kamehameha the Great in the from of a statue.which is located in Kapaau. The property, which was once owned by the State is currently owned by the County. However, it is unclear who has ownership of the statue. Therefore, the statue has been maintained by community efforts. .
