Re: Agreement with Pacific International`Space Center for Exploration Systems
Enclosed is a resolution to enter an agreement with Pacific International Space Center for
Exploration Systems (PISCES). This agreement is to provide a one year extension to an
agreement entered on November 25,.2015 which expires on June 30, 2018 and which
provided$25,000 to PISCES for its:MoonRIDERS Lunar Surface Flight Experiment
project.

A. REQUEST:
Resolution authorizing County (via R & D) to enter into agreement and a no-cost one year extension with
Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems (PISCES), to provide funding for its
MoonRIDERS (Research Investigating Dust Expulsion Removal Systems) Lunar Surface Flight Experiment
Project.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County entered into an agreement with the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration System
(PISCES) under the Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) on November
25, 2015.
The amended term of the MoonRIDERS contract will end on June 30, 2019
The $25,000 program will allow PISCES to complete the engineering cost of integrating the student flight
experiment into a lunar space craft and to allow Kealekehe High School students and mentors travel cost for
hands-on participation in spacecraft integration activities
A one year no-cost extension is requested because NASA is expected to release a solicitation in April 2018
for the commercial lunar lander and a solicitation for lunar surface instuments. MoonRIDERS activites are
dependent on these two solicitations by NASA.
