RESOLUTION NO.. 603 18
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL
SPACE CENTER FOR EXPLORATION SYSTEMS
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to enter
into an agreement with Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems
(PISCES) to provide a one-year extension to an.agreement to provide funding for
its MoonRIDERS (Research Investigating Dust Expulsion Removal Systems)
Lunar Surface Flight Experiment project; and
WHEREAS, the agreement is to provide a one-year extension to an
agreement entered on November 25 2015 with PISCES. The original agreement,
which expires on.June 30, 2018, was to.provide $25,000 tocomplete the
engineering cost of integrating the student flight experiment in to a lunar space
craft and for travel expenses for students and mentors of Kealekehe.High School
to participate in spacecraft integration activities; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the
federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the
powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other
assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in
accordance with section 46-7,: Hawaii Revised.Statutes, that the Mayor of the
County of Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement
and related documents with PISCES to provide aid to the County as described
above.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance
Department, and the Department of Research and Development.
