This organization began and has been sustained almost exclusively with local effort, time and financial support. My testimony will be limited to two specific issues: First, the list of other community prganizations with which the East Hawaii Cultural Council is anticipating cooperative partnership for mutual financial and cultural benefits include the following: • Desination Hilo, an educational tourism consortium • Senior organizations such as AARP • University of Hawaii at Hilo • Hawaii Community College • Lyman Museum • Tsunami Museum • American Heart Association • Hospice • American Cancer Society • Volcano National Park • Volcano Art Center Comm. Among those who have given generous financial support this year are the following: • The Atherton Foundation • Bank of Hawaii • The State Foundation for Culture and the Arts • Hawaii Tourism Authority • Two private donors who have contributed $1000 each • George Winston, who recently gave a benefit concert and raised a substantial amount of money for the organization • Many smaller donors who contributed time and materials in addition to smaller financial donations to the Center If you need more information or have any other questions, I will be happy to assist you.
