Re: Personal Testimony
Thank you for the opportunity to present material indicating the breadth and depth of
community support for the East Hawaii Cultural Council. This organization began and
has been sustained almost exclusively with local effort, time and financial support.
My testimony will be limited to two specific issues:
First, the list of other community prganizations with which the East Hawaii Cultural
Council is anticipating cooperative partnership for mutual financial and cultural benefits
include the following:
• Desination Hilo, an educational tourism consortium
• Senior organizations such as AARP
• University of Hawaii at Hilo
• Hawaii Community College
• Lyman Museum
• Tsunami Museum
• American Heart Association
• Hospice
• American Cancer Society
• Volcano National Park
• Volcano Art Center

Second, we feel it is important to acknowledge some of the major donors who have
shown belief in the East Hawaii Guhural Council. Among those who have given
generous financial support this year are the following:
• The Atherton Foundation
• Bank of Hawaii
• The State Foundation for Culture and the Arts
• Hawaii Tourism Authority
• Two private donors who have contributed $1000 each
• George Winston, who recently gave a benefit concert and raised a substantial amount
of money for the organization
• Many smaller donors who contributed time and materials in addition to smaller
financial donations to the Center
If you need more information or have any other questions, I will be happy to assist you.
