From: Lisa Buna'NY- ' e ''UN .RK r t To: Council Testimony ` Subject: Bill 108 Short term vacation rentals Date: Saturday, April 21, 2018 3:45:04 PM 10`18 APR 27 AN .O, Aloha Mr. Kanuha, Ms. Eoff and County Council, I live in your district Mr. Kanuha. In a previously quiet little subdivision. I moved from my prior district (yours Ms. Eoff) in part because of noise issues. I have been here since 1984, and realize that little Kona has grown up. It is not the sleepy little village it was. However, what is happening now is uncalled for. A few years ago a large home near me was purchased by attorney Phil Green. He remains totally unresponsive to our requests to keep his guests quiet or on any sort of good behavior. We have tried working with the community police officers, calling in noise complaints constantly, etc. Years have passed with seemingly no recourse for those of us trying to simply get a good night's sleep and maintain our quality of life. Please help us to get our quiet neighborhood back. Anything you could do that would hold the owner responsible for the renters behavior would help. It makes no sense for the overworked police to have to quiet each group. Perhaps revoke the owners right to rent short term if they can't control their renters. Owners who are not able to manage their short term rental properties properly would be able to help our community greatly by renting long term. Maybe a fine could be imposed after a certain number of disruptive guests? Mahalo for your efforts in helping solve this important community problem, Lisa Bunge Comm. No. ql%I Ref.
